Every lawn is different. Before recommending treatments, we take the time to understand its condition, identify underlying problems and determine the most suitable course of action for long-term lawn health.

01 / 05

Lawn Condition Assessment

We begin by examining the overall health and appearance of your lawn, looking for visible problems that may be affecting grass growth.

  • Moss and thatch build-up
  • Broadleaf weeds and unwanted growth
  • Thin, patchy or bare areas
  • Signs of lawn disease and poor grass health
02 / 05

Ground & Drainage

We assess the ground conditions to identify factors that could restrict healthy root development or prevent the lawn from recovering properly.

  • Compacted or poorly structured soil
  • Waterlogging and drainage concerns
  • Uneven ground levels and low spots
  • Areas affected by excessive moisture
03 / 05

Surrounding Environment

We consider how the surrounding garden environment affects the lawn, including sunlight, shade and competition from nearby planting.

  • Overhanging trees and shaded areas
  • Shrubs and surrounding vegetation
  • Competition from tree and shrub roots
  • Sunlight exposure and airflow
04 / 05

Recommended Course of Action

Based on our findings, we determine whether preparatory or corrective work is needed before beginning regular seasonal lawn treatments.

  • Scarification to remove moss and thatch
  • Aeration and overseeding where beneficial
  • More comprehensive lawn renovation
  • Direct entry into seasonal treatments if suitable

Your Personalised Lawn Care Plan

Once we've assessed your lawn, we'll explain our findings and recommend a practical plan to improve its condition. Where necessary, we'll prioritise restorative work before introducing ongoing seasonal treatments.

  • Clear explanation of your lawn's condition
  • Recommended preparatory work and services
  • Appropriate seasonal lawn treatments
  • Practical advice for ongoing lawn health

The right treatment starts with the right assessment.

Some lawns can begin seasonal treatments straight away. Others benefit from scarification or renovation first. Our recommendations are based on what your lawn actually needs, helping us build a stronger foundation for healthier, longer-lasting results.

Lawn treatment FAQ's

Our comprehensive lawn care programme includes five seasonal fertiliser treatments throughout the year, designed to support healthy growth, improve colour and strengthen your lawn through the changing seasons.

Professional weed control and preventative moisture management are also incorporated where appropriate, with treatments carefully scheduled according to weather conditions and your lawn’s individual needs.

Additional services, including scarification, overseeding and lawn renovation, are available separately.

Not at all! Our Emerald Green Lawn Care Programme operates on a convenient Pay-As-You-Go basis, meaning you only pay for each treatment as it’s carried out.

Pricing is based on your lawn’s size, calculated per 10m², so you receive a tailored quotation without having to pay for the entire year’s treatments upfront.

Absolutely! You don’t need to wait until spring to start improving your lawn.

You can join our programme at any point during the treatment season, and we’ll assess your lawn’s condition before recommending the most suitable starting treatment.

Your programme will then follow our seasonal treatment schedule, helping your lawn become healthier, stronger and more resilient over time.

Many customers begin noticing improvements in their lawn’s colour and growth within 1–2 weeks of treatment, although results vary depending on the season, weather conditions, soil moisture and the lawn’s existing health.

Our lawn care programme is designed to deliver consistent, long-term improvements rather than just a short-lived burst of colour.

Not at all! You don’t need to be home for your lawn treatments, provided we have safe and easy access to your garden.

We’ll send you a reminder before your scheduled visit, giving you time to ensure gates are unlocked and any pets are safely indoors.

Once your treatment is complete, we’ll let you know and provide any relevant aftercare advice.

It depends on the treatment being applied. Most granular fertilisers benefit from rainfall or watering to help release nutrients into the soil, while weed control treatments generally need time to be absorbed before rainfall or irrigation.

We’ll always provide clear aftercare instructions following each visit, including whether watering is necessary and when it’s safe to do so.

Regular watering during prolonged dry spells can also help maintain a healthier, greener lawn and support the effectiveness of your lawn care programme.

During prolonged dry spells, aim to provide approximately 25mm (1 inch) of water per week, including rainfall. This will vary depending on temperatures, soil conditions and your lawn’s individual needs.

Watering deeply and less frequently encourages stronger, deeper root growth, helping your lawn become more resilient during periods of dry weather.

Early morning is generally the best time to water, as it reduces evaporation and allows the grass to dry throughout the day. Avoid frequent, light watering, which can encourage shallow root development.

This depends on the type of treatment being applied. For most fertiliser applications, mowing your lawn a day or two beforehand is perfectly fine, provided the grass isn’t cut too short.

Weed control treatments require a little more care. We generally recommend avoiding mowing for at least three days before and after application, allowing sufficient leaf growth for the weedkiller to be absorbed effectively.

We’ll always provide guidance ahead of your scheduled visit, so you know exactly when to mow and how to get the best results from your treatment.

Brown or patchy areas can develop for several reasons, including drought stress, compacted soil, poor drainage, fungal diseases, pet urine or a build-up of thatch.

During prolonged dry weather, lawns can lose their vibrant green colour and enter a period of dormancy to conserve moisture. While this can look concerning, healthy grass will often recover once cooler temperatures and adequate rainfall return.

At Emerald Green Lawn Care, we assess your lawn’s condition and recommend appropriate treatments to address underlying issues, encourage healthier growth and improve its overall resilience.

Yes! Alongside our lawn care programme, we offer regular fortnightly lawn mowing throughout the growing season, helping to keep your grass neat, healthy and well-maintained.

Lawn mowing is available as a separate service and can be arranged alongside your seasonal lawn treatments for added convenience.

If you’re interested in regular mowing, simply mention it when requesting a quote, and we’ll be happy to discuss availability in your area.
